Terms and responsibilities

Terms of Use

These terms apply when you browse, post, contact someone, report content, or otherwise use the Fox Valley Tornado Recovery Hub.

Last updated July 28, 2026

1. Acceptance

By using this site, and especially by submitting a listing, you agree to these Terms of Use, the Community Board Rules, and the Privacy Notice. Do not use or post on the Community Board if you do not agree.

2. Community service, not emergency dispatch

The Hub is a temporary community wayfinding and public-connection service. It is not 911, 211, emergency management, a shelter operator, a case-management service, a background-check service, or a professional adviser. Call 911 for immediate danger and use official services for urgent needs.

3. Age and authority

You must be at least 18 to submit a listing or report, or have a parent or legal guardian submit it. You must have the right to post the information and contact method you provide and must not impersonate another person, organization, business, or public agency.

4. Public posting and your responsibility

You are responsible for your listing, contact method, communications, conduct, promises, services, prices, and decisions. Listings are public and may be copied or shared. Do not submit sensitive information or anything you are not willing to make public.

5. Permission to display listings

By posting, you give the Hub a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to host, format, display, reproduce, and distribute the listing only as reasonably needed to operate, protect, share, and archive the service. You may end public display through the management link or a removal request, subject to copies made by others and limited technical retention.

6. No verification or endorsement

Community listings are not individually pre-screened, verified, guaranteed, recommended, or endorsed. The Hub does not guarantee identity, need, availability, safety, legality, licensing, insurance, pricing, quality, workmanship, results, or successful connection.

7. External services and direct contact

Facebook, Nextdoor, email, telephone, websites, and other contact routes are controlled by third parties. Communications and arrangements happen directly between users. The Hub is not a party to those conversations, agreements, payments, visits, services, or disputes.

8. Prohibited use

You may not use the site for fraud, exploitation, harassment, threats, discrimination, rumors, impersonation, unlawful activity, unsafe entry requests, spam, undisclosed commercial solicitation, personal cash-transfer requests, crowdfunding, weapons, controlled substances, or other content prohibited by the Community Board Rules.

9. Businesses and paid services

Businesses and skilled providers must accurately identify themselves and state whether an offer is free, donated, discounted, or paid. They remain responsible for licenses, permits, insurance, contracts, taxes, consumer-protection duties, and the work they perform. Disaster-related pressure tactics or exploitation are prohibited.

10. Removal and availability

The operator may hide, remove, expire, restrict, or refuse content or access when reasonably believed necessary for safety, privacy, legality, accuracy, abuse prevention, site operation, or community usefulness. The Hub may change, pause, or discontinue any feature without promising advance notice.

11. Use at your own risk

The site and listings are provided on an “as available” basis. Use reasonable caution, verify information independently, and make your own decisions. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator does not promise that the site will be error-free, uninterrupted, current, safe, or suitable for a particular purpose and is not responsible for losses caused by another user's content or conduct, external services, or decisions made from public listings.

12. Your conduct

You remain responsible for harm, claims, or expenses arising from your own unlawful, deceptive, unsafe, or rights-violating content or conduct.

13. Wisconsin law

These terms are governed by applicable federal law and the laws of Wisconsin, without creating a waiver of any rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

14. Changes and contact

Terms may be updated as the project develops. The date above identifies the current public terms. Questions may be sent to info@foxvalleyrecovery.org.
