Use the Hub responsibly
Terms of Use
These terms apply to browsing, posting, contacting, responding, managing listings, and using Hub-created publications and materials.
1. Acceptance
By using the site, and especially by submitting a listing or contact message, you agree to these Terms and the applicable Community Board Rules or Partner Board Rules.
2. What the Hub is
The Hub is a community recovery information and connection service. It publishes information, offers no-account listing management, may suggest possible matches, and may forward a verified first message through Contact through the Hub. It is not an emergency dispatcher, case manager, government agency, insurer, contractor, employer, payment service, background-check service, social network, or party to arrangements made through listings.
3. Public posting
Listing text, topic, general area, timing, provider/cost context, and any deliberately public profile/contact fields can be viewed, copied, or shared by others. Posters are responsible for having authority to publish what they submit and for keeping it accurate and reasonably current. This describes the practical exposure of public information; it does not transfer ownership of a poster's content or create a general reuse license.
4. Contact through the Hub
For eligible Community listings, a poster may keep their destination email private and allow the Hub to forward a responder's verified first message. The Hub verifies control of email addresses, not identity, safety, credentials, intentions, compatibility, or truthfulness. The Hub does not promise delivery or response, does not create an inbox or conversation thread, and does not become party to any later communication or arrangement. If a poster replies to the responder outside the Hub, their email address becomes visible to that responder.
Do not use Contact through the Hub for harassment, spam, threats, scams, pressure sales, sensitive personal data, payment information, medical details, account/claim numbers, or other prohibited content. The Hub may rate-limit, block, report, preserve, or remove records when reasonably necessary for safety, abuse prevention, legality, or site operation.
5. Private management and verification links
Private listing-management links, verified-organization management links, and one-time contact verification links must be kept confidential. A management link acts like a password for the listing or organization profile it controls. Anyone with a valid management token may be able to alter that information. The Hub may rotate, revoke, or expire private tokens for security or access changes.
6. Verification and endorsement
Unless a page expressly says otherwise, Community and Partner listings are not individually verified, background-checked, inspected, licensed, insured, endorsed, or continuously monitored by the Hub. A Hub-Verified Partner designation has a narrow meaning: the Hub confirmed that an authorized representative controls the organization profile. It is not an endorsement, background check, licensing or insurance review, audit, or guarantee of the organization, its services, claims, eligibility decisions, availability, safety, transactions, or outcomes. A private contact route does not imply that either party has been verified as a person.
7. Possible matches
Optional match alerts are automated suggestions based on structured listing information such as type, topic, and broad area. They are not guarantees of compatibility, availability, safety, identity, or successful assistance. Private contact information is not used as a public matching field.
8. Direct arrangements
Users are responsible for deciding whether to communicate, meet, exchange goods, perform services, accept work, pay money, enter property, or otherwise act on a listing. Verify information independently and use reasonable caution. Any agreement is between the people or organizations involved, not the Hub.
9. Prohibited use
Do not use the site for unlawful, deceptive, exploitative, unsafe, abusive, privacy-invasive, discriminatory, or rights-violating conduct; to circumvent rate limits or security controls; to scrape or harvest private data; to impersonate others; or to submit content prohibited by the applicable Board Rules.
10. Emergencies and professional advice
Do not rely on the Hub for emergency response. Call 911 for immediate danger. Information on the site is general recovery information, not legal, medical, financial, insurance, engineering, or other professional advice.
11. External services and third-party material
Links may lead to government agencies, utilities, nonprofits, businesses, social networks, or other services. The Hub does not control their availability, privacy practices, content, or transactions. Government information, public records, third-party content, names, marks, and linked materials remain subject to their own ownership, legal status, and terms; publication or citation by the Hub does not make them Decent Ops property.
12. Removal and availability
A poster may edit, resolve, close, or remove a listing through its private management link. The operator may hide, remove, expire, restrict, or refuse content or access when reasonably believed necessary for safety, privacy, legality, accuracy, abuse prevention, site operation, or community usefulness. Features may change, pause, or discontinue without guaranteed notice.
13. Use at your own risk
The site is provided on an “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator does not promise that the site, listings, contact forwarding, email delivery, matches, or external resources will be error-free, uninterrupted, current, safe, or suitable for a particular purpose.
14. Your conduct
You remain responsible for harm, claims, or expenses arising from your own unlawful, deceptive, unsafe, privacy-invasive, or rights-violating content or conduct.
15. Hub-created content and intellectual property
Unless a page, publication, file, or material says otherwise, original Hub-created text, publications, graphics, visual assets, software, and original selection, coordination, or arrangement of content are owned by Decent Ops to the extent protected by applicable law. Copyright does not give Decent Ops ownership of facts, ideas, procedures, processes, systems, methods of operation, public records, or third-party material merely because the Hub describes, organizes, links to, or uses them.
Making Hub-created material publicly available does not by itself grant a general license to copy, republish, redistribute, modify, rebrand, sell, or incorporate that material into another product or service. This paragraph does not restrict fair use, other rights granted by law, ordinary linking, or permissions expressly stated for a particular publication or Partner Material.
16. Content you submit
You retain ownership of content you submit to the extent you own it. By submitting content, you grant Decent Ops a nonexclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, format, display, transmit, index within the Hub, moderate, and otherwise process that content only as reasonably necessary to operate the Hub, provide the requested listing or contact function, enforce these Terms and Board Rules, protect safety and security, or comply with law. Service providers may process submitted content only as necessary to provide the Hub's underlying services.
This limited license does not transfer ownership to Decent Ops. When public content is removed or expires, continued retention is limited to backups, security, abuse-prevention, legal, and operational records handled under the Privacy Notice.
17. Recovery Library and Partner Materials
Recovery Library publications are Hub-created publications unless a particular publication says otherwise. You may download, print, and share a complete, unmodified Library publication for noncommercial community recovery, preparedness, educational, or household use while keeping its attribution and copyright notice intact. Do not rebrand, materially modify, sell, or present a Library publication as your own. Permission to quote, comment on, teach from, research, or otherwise use material under applicable law is not reduced by these Terms.
Partner Materials are intentionally designed for community distribution. They may be downloaded, printed, displayed, and redistributed for their intended recovery-sharing purpose, subject to the permission shown with the specific material. Do not remove or obscure the Hub identity or source, materially change the message, sell the material, or imply endorsement by the Hub or Decent Ops.
18. Wisconsin law
These terms are governed by applicable federal law and the laws of Wisconsin, without creating a waiver of rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
19. Changes and contact
Terms may be updated as the project develops. The date above identifies the current public terms. Questions may be sent to info@foxvalleyrecovery.org.
